Seth Medura is a residential institution that provides opportunities for girls from low-income families who were born with intellectual disabilities to develop independent living skills. The institution helps them learn to manage their daily activities independently while providing opportunities to develop their reading, writing, handicraft, music, and dancing skills.
The institution is located in Kalapura, Nattarampotha, approximately 12 kilometres from Kandy. Currently, 18 children receive training at the institution. They are guided by teachers who are trained to work with children with intellectual disabilities. Under the supervision of the institution’s matron, the girls live at the facility and receive training to manage their everyday activities and develop the skills needed to live as independently as possible.
Anyone who wishes to visit the institution and provide a meal or refreshments for the children can contact the matron, Mrs. Withanage, to arrange a suitable date.
